CYBER_SHED is Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre’s (BANC's) community-based digital literacy outreach service. We are passionate about using online technologies to make lives easier, including opportunities offered by assistive technologies. CYBER_SHED services an area with a great need for digital inclusion to overcome isolation. The Blue Mountains Local Government Area has a higher than national average aging population, and the Blackheath area has the highest older demographic within the LGA. Our area also has a higher than average number of single person households. Hence, the issue of overcoming social isolation is one of CYBER_SHED's prime motivations. CYBER_SHED is currently closed during COVID-19 crisis. We are adhering to best practice social distancing & hygiene at all times. We are supporting our learners with a mix of Zoom, for both one to one & small group learning, and email & phone support.
