Springwood Neighbourhood Centre Co-operative's Commonwealth Home Support Program provides regular and ongoing social support to seniors living at home. Our trained volunteers visit clients in their homes, take them out for coffee and lend assistance for activities such as shopping. The program aims to keep elderly people independent, connected to their community and socially engaged. It is a vital service for those who are at risk of being isolated, lonely and vulnerable. Volunteers and clients are matched according to their interests, personality and time commitments. The Centre also facilitates social inclusion groups for those interested in playing cards, knitting and having morning tea with other locals. These are run on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
